This article contains information about user permissions and best practices to effectively create and manage assessment resources accessible across your district in our software. For more information about user permissions and course configuration, please refer to this article about user roles and this article on how to setup courses and curriculum.
Key Permissions Needed
There are two key permissions needed for both authoring and publishing assessment resources in a district account:
District Catalog Write
This permission enables users to:
-
- Create folders accessible by staff and personnel district-wide.
- Develop resources that can be utilized across the district.
District Write
This permission allows users to publish resources directly to district course contents, making them available to teachers within their course materials.
Best Practices
Find below guidance and best practices to help your district leadership as you build out new assessment resources in Forefront.
Selective Permission Assignment
In larger districts or those with dispersed teams, it is advisable to:
-
- Grant the “District Catalog Write” permission to a select group of subject-specialist users responsible for creating district-wide resources.
- Assign the “District Write” permission to a limited number of district-level leaders tasked with publishing resources to course contents.
Minimize Course Content Changes
Restricting the number of users with publishing capabilities helps prevent frequent changes to course contents, reducing potential confusion for classroom teachers and support staff at individual sites.
By carefully managing these permissions, your district can ensure a streamlined and efficient process for creating, managing, and distributing assessment resources.
