This online, self-paced course introduces the Universal Screeners for Number Sense (USNS) to educators. Select the course for your grade-level to build an understanding of the USNS, gain practice scoring student interviews, and learn how to capture scores and observations in Forefront. This asynchronous training is a practical way to get started with the USNS, and it’s included with Forefront subscriptions.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, teachers and instructional leaders will be able to:
- Explain the purpose and design of the Universal Screeners for Number Sense (USNS)
- Understand the key facets of number sense
- Administer grade-level interviews effectively
- Apply scoring guidelines to evaluate student thinking

Course Duration
The course is designed to take approximately 60 minutes to complete.
If you are setting aside time for staff training, we recommend reserving 90 minutes to allow time for both completion and team discussion.
